We had a very cool trip to “Old Fort Erie” which to Canadians is equivalent to Texans visiting the Alamo. Canada looks to Fort Erie as their greatest battle and “no other land in Canada as been more covered by brave Canada mens blood”. And only 2 days out of the year they do a full-blown reenactment of the great battle that took there. They have people dressed up for the US Armies and British armies and they shoot at each other on the battle fields, and fire cannons.

I stood back to get pictures of the army troops walking by and I started to tear up, and then it hit me why, it’s was MY SIDE! They were American troops! I’m sure the Canadians didn’t like dressing up for that part… probably got assigned the parts. Lol.

Before the battle they fire all the different types of cannons Canada has used over the years and you get to see and HEAR them! each one had a different type of BOOM and amount of smoke.

I met this great lady with her grandaughter who was 10 months old. She didn’t even FLINCH at the cannons. Her grandmother told how her daughter would come here when she was pregnant so the little girl was probably very use to the cannons. Lol.

We did get a chance to get some great family pictures!

It’s so cool that so many people come to this place to dress and act the part of their history. They tent here for the weekend, eat, drink, sleep talk, dress all the old fashion ways. It’s really cool! It’s totally like walking back in time.

We got to talk to this really nice mother and daughter who were who made apple pie tarts REALLY “Old School” style and gave some to us to eat. Derick didn’t care for it, but I thought they were fine. It’s more about the experience anyhow.

“STEP LIVELY BOYS! TO ARMS!!” I don’t think I could ever be apart of a reenactment of any war, I would just be afraid that some psycho stuffed a prop-gun with real bullets. It’s just too scary.

After the battle, they have one piper play a song in honor of the all the men who died on the battle field. Very sweet.

Then it’s off to the tents flee market to see and buy some hand-made memorabilia of the ages. Amanda walked by this Indian, and man was fully dresses and painted up to play the part, she stared up at him but was shyly stepping back from him. He’s was very intimidating. And he’ only had his butt crack barley covered by his Indian costume. Man I love history! Lol. The best tent was this old guy, his grandson juggled oranges and the old man would tell old jokes do old school magic tricks and at the end he took out his skinned weasel and tied him up on this string, and pulled on it to make him “dance” while he sang a song. It was very funny and cute.

HELLO NEW YORK!!! You can see Buffalo NY right across the water from where we were, aw… so close to home and yet so far away! GOD BLESS AMERICA!
